Immigration Update – Skilled Migration Programs Opening Soon for South Australia!

New immigration update from South Australia!

The Australian Government Department of Home Affairs has provided South Australia with an interim allocation of nomination places for the 2022-23 program year. Based on this, South Australia will be opening its State’s Skilled & Business Migration immediately.

Based on the interim allocation, South Australia will have slots for both General Skill Migration and Business Innovation and Investment program. This would be a huge boost for migrants who apply for General Skilled Migration (GSM).

Interim nomination allocation for South Australia are:

  • 5,880 places for General Skilled Migration Program (GSM)
  • 70 Places for Business Innovation and Investment Program (BIIP)
General Skilled Migration Program

According to the reports, to tackle the immediate shortage skills, The General Skilled Migration (GSM) program would be opening for over 500 occupations on 25th August 2022.

Prior to the 2022-23 program opening, Skilled & Business Migration website and apply portal will be under maintenance on Wednesday, 24 August 2022. The program is expected to have high demand considering the circumstances.

Off shore Applicants
South Australia plans to increase the amount of offshore applicants to bring in more labour work force into South Australia. In order to streamline this process, South Australia would be selecting from the pool of offshore applicants to apply for state nomination from the list of applicants who have already submitted Expression of interest (EOI). This would be done in liaison with Department of Home Affairs Skillset database. Another notable point is that – off shore applicants don’t need to lodge Registration of Interest (RoI) during this program year.

South Australia will be nominating off shore applications from over 470 occupations, which is quite a large pool. This is a great opportunity to be involved in the program for applicants. Make sure, all information in SkillSelect EOI is relevant and up to date. To be prioritized, make sure you have selected South Australia as your first preferred State or Territory for Australian Migration.

On Shore Applications
Eligible On Shore applicants will also have chance to apply directly for nomination. The streams will include:

  • Applicants who are working in South Australia
  • South Australian Graduates
  • Long term Residents
  • Outer regional South Australia
Business Innovation and Investment Program

Australian Government has provided South Australia with a limited allocation of nomination places for the Business Innovation and Investment Program. As per the allocations, 70 slots are reserved for BIIP, which is also high in demand.

In a nutshell, South Australia has limited slots for eligible applicants and is high in demand. Ensure the applications are processed and handled carefully by Australian Migration and Settlement Experts. Make sure you notice the timelines and FastTrack the process with your case officer. Don’t miss out on this opportunity, as the chances of positive outcome are high for General Skilled Migration (GSM) for South Australia.
