Subclass 836 (Carer) Visa
The Carer (Subclass 836) Visa is a permanent visa that allows individuals to move to Australia to provide long-term care for a person who has no reasonable access to medical care in Australia.

Eligibility
Individuals who want to apply for the Subclass 836 visa must meet the following requirements:
- Be a carer:
○ Be willing and able to provide continuous and substantial support and care for the sponsoring individual
○ Completely understand the individual’s medical condition and care needs
- Have a sponsorship:
○ By an eligible sponsor
○ That is approved by the Australian authorities
- Be a past or present holder of any substantive visa (except Subclass 771)
- Meet the health requirements
- Meet the character requirements
Location when Applying
Individuals must already be in Australia when applying and when the authorities make their decision.
Including Family
Individuals can include members of their family unit in their application. These family members must also meet health and character requirements.
