Subclass 103 (Parent) Visa
Subclass 103 is a permanent visa wherein a parent of an established Australian citizen, permanent resident of Australia, or qualifying citizen of New Zealand may enter and stay in Australia.
Benefits of Subclass 103
Individuals have the following benefits with the Parent (Subclass 103) Visa:
- Live in Australia indefinitely
- Work and study in Australia
- Enrol in Medicare
- Travel to and from Australia for 5 years
- Sponsor eligible relatives to come to Australia
- Apply for Australian citizenship, if eligible
Eligibility
These are the requirements that must be met before applying for Subclass 103:
- Not have applied for or hold the Sponsored Parent (Temporary) (Subclass 870) Visa
- Have a sponsor that is:
○ An eligible child over 18 years, or
○ An eligible relative or community organisation
○ Approved
Note: Individuals who apply as a retiree do not require a sponsor.
- Obtain an assurance of support
Note: Individuals who apply as retirees do not require an assurance of support.
- Meet the balance-of-family test
Note: Individuals who apply as retirees do not need to meet the balance-of-family test.
- Meet the health requirements
- Meet the character requirements
- An individual can also apply as a retiree
Location when Applying
Individuals can be in or outside Australia when they apply for the visa.
Including Family
Members of the family unit can be included in the main applicant’s application.
