Subclass 870 (Sponsored Parent (Temporary)) Visa
Subclass 870 (Sponsored Parent (Temporary)) Visa permits an Australian permanent resident, citizen, or eligible New Zealand citizen to temporarily visit Australia for anywhere up to 3 or 5 years.
Benefits of Subclass 870
With this visa, parents can:
- Reunite and spend time with their children in Australia
- Visit Australia for up to 3 or 5 years based on their visa
- Reapply for additional Sponsored Parent (Temporary) visas for a maximum period of 10 years
Individuals are not permitted to work in Australia while on this visa.
Eligibility
Prerequisites for this visa include:
- Being eligible to apply by either being:
○ 18 years or above, and
○ The biological, legal, adoptive, parent, step-parent, or parent-in-law of the sponsor
- Having an approved sponsor
- Having enough funds
- Genuinely intending to stay in Australia for a temporary period
- Meet the health requirements
- Meet the character requirements
Location when Applying
Individuals must submit their application when outside Australia, unless they have been granted the permission to apply while in the country.
Including Family
Family members cannot be included in the visa application.
