Subclass 300 (Prospective Marriage) Visa

Subclass 300 (Prospective Marriage) Visa allows individuals to come to Australia to marry their prospective spouse and subsequently apply for a Partner visa. This temporary visa permits a stay of anywhere between 9 and 15 months.

Individuals get the following benefits while on a Subclass 300 Visa:

  • Work in Australia
  • Stay in Australia
  • Travel to and from Australia as many times as one wants while the visa is valid
  • Travel to and stay in Australia between 9-15 months from the date of visa grant

To be eligible for a Subclass 300 (Prospective Marriage) Visa, one must:

  • Have a sponsor
  • Be 18 years or older
  • Be outside Australia when applying
  • Meet relationship requirements
  • Meet health requirements
  • Meet character requirements
  • Not have had a previous visa cancelled or an application refused
Location when Applying

Individuals and any dependent children or family members applying with them must be outside Australia when applying for Subclass 300.

Including Family

Individuals can include members of the family unit while lodging their application or add a dependent child after lodging the application but before the decision has been made.

All family members applying with the main applicant must meet the health and character requirements and be outside of Australia.

Those family members not accompanying the individual to Australia might also have to meet the health and character requirements.
