Subclass 485 (Temporary Graduate) Visa
Subclass 485 is a temporary visa that lets international students study, work, and live in Australia for a specified period after finishing their studies. As of February 2024, subclass 485 has four streams: Graduate Work, Post-Study Work, Second Post-Study Work, and Replacement Streams.

Eligibility
Individuals interested in applying for a Subclass 485 Visa must:
- Be under 50 years
- Hold an eligible visa
- Have held a student visa in the last 6 months
- Have a recent qualification in a CRICOS-registered course
- Nominate one stream only – changing visa streams after applying is not permitted
- Attach specified evidence when applying
- Have adequate health insurance
- Meet health requirements
- Meet character requirements
Location when Applying
Individuals are required to be in Australia when applying for the Graduate Work Stream and the Post-Study Work Stream. In order to apply for a second Temporary Graduate Post-Study Work Stream visa, the individual and any accompanied dependents must be in Australia. For the Replacement Stream, individuals can be in or outside Australia when applying.
Including Family
Individuals can include members of their family unit in their application. Each family member must meet the health and character requirements.
