Skill Immigration Process

An individual’s process of immigration to Australia begins with an expression of interest. To be invited to apply by an Australian state or territory government, individuals must submit their Expression of Interest (EOI) in SkillSelect.

SkillSelect is the Australian government’s online system for skilled individuals who wish to express their interest in applying for a visa to live and work in Australia. Through SkillSelect, an individual may be invited to apply for the following visas:

  • Step 1 : Subclass 189 (Skilled Independent) Visa
  • Step 2 : Subclass 190 (Skilled Nominated) Visa
  • Step 3 : Subclass 491 (Skilled Work Regional) Visa

Based on the EOIs in SkillSelect, the Australian government sends out invitations to apply for skilled visas multiple times a year.

Knowing what an individual must have before submitting their EOI is essential. Some critical criteria to check for include:

  1. If the individual’s desired occupation is on the Skilled Occupation List.
  2. Meeting the minimum score of 65 on the points calculator.
  3. Obtaining a skills assessment in the occupation the individual wishes to nominate.
  4. Completing an English language test if required.
  5. Information regarding educational qualifications must be included.
  6. Details of work experience must be provided.

Note: Individuals must include the date of their skills assessment, the assessing authority’s name, and the receipt number in their EOI. Additionally, they must include the details and results of their English test in the EOI.

The team at FBP International assists its clients with their visa applications from end to end. Individuals are provided with constant support, guidance, and the necessary updates.

Here is a brief list of steps involved when creating a profile for lodgement of Expression of Interest (EOI):

  • Step 1: Submit the details and documents required by the team at FBP International to start the EOI. It will include English test results and more.
  • Step 2: The team submits the completed EOI.
  • Step 3: If an individual receives an invitation to apply, the team will have 60 days from the invitation date to complete and submit a valid visa application.
After submitting an Expression of Interest, individuals in eligible occupations who meet the required points criteria may receive invitations to apply for a skilled visa.
Points are given for the following factors:
  1. Work experience
  2. Age
  3. Educational qualifications
  4. English language
  5. Nomination by an Australian state or territory or sponsorship by an eligible family member
